» MBN Graduation Dinner
Posted on Friday 30 November by Muhammad Khatree
The Muslim Business Network (www.mbn.net.au) is planning to have a graduation dinner for all Muslim students in Brisbane who are graduating from university this year. The event is for undergraduates who have completed their degrees this year. They would like all Muslim students in Brisbane who are graduating this year to attend the dinner, which will honour their efforts. At the same time, they might also invite Year 12 students who have finished Year 12 this year, so
they may interact with the recent university graduates.
If any brothers or sisters are interested in attending this ceremony, please email s4110914@student.uq.edu.au with your details (name, contact details, degree). |
» New Committee Welcome Message
Posted on Wednesday 31 October by MSAUQ Committee
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
On behalf of the new MSA Executive Committee I’d like to thank the outgoing Executive Committee members for a great service they offered to us over the last year. Also, I'd like to thank the brothers and sisters who attended the AGM. This is a big responsibility for us and we will be answerable not only to the MSA members but also to Allah on the Day of Judgement.
Our Aims
We see ourselves as having been appointed to (A) serve the interests and welfare of Muslim students at the MSA and (B) to make their stay at UQ enjoyable and (C) a source of increasing in Iman as better Muslims. These are our aims and we pray Allah guides us and gives us all success.
Market Day Stall Preparations
To begin with, during the long nearly three months summer holidays, we hope to prepare for the Market Day Stall of MSA in February 2008 for the new students. This is a great opportunity to introduce MSA to Muslims and non-Muslims alike. We will be trying to make or gather pamphlets about Islam, Muslim culture, info for international Muslim students at UQ and info about MSA and its activities.
BBQ & Sports Day During Summer
Besides this, over the holidays, with the help of Allah, we aim to have a social and sports get together afternoon for UQ Muslim students, their friends, wives/husbands and children over a BBQ at Musallah with a religious talk and then sports session at UQ on the same day. We hope to do this twice during the summer holidays to give students an opportunity to enjoy each others company and get to know more new students.
Eid Prayers during Summer
Eid-ul-Adha will come during the summer holidays. We would like to arrange buses for UQ students to go to the Eid Musallah and pray Eid salah with everyone at the Islamic School – this is better for unity of Muslims in Brisbane and feels better to be part of the whole Muslim community on this Eid occasion. But if this is not possible for many students then we will be happy to organise an Eid prayer at the UQ itself.
Weekly Religious Talks Over Summer will continue
Also, the RiyadusSalihin Hadith and Quran talks will continue during the whole summer holidays by Br Aslam (sweet.iman@yahoo.com) and we encourage brothers and sisters to attend these – it is a great opportunity to keep in touch with other brothers and sisters over the holidays in a spiritual environment. These recommence after the exam week, every Monday after Maghrib prayer at Musallah.
Your participation
To organise these events during the summer and others during next year, we will form various activities committees as needed. Please volunteer. We need sisters for sister’s activities committees and brothers also. Please email us now if you like to volunteer may Allah reward you, don’t postpone! Also please give us any suggestions you may have.
Regular updates over summer
Please keep checking the MSA mailing list and MSA UQ website www.msauq.org for updates during the holidays to do with Friday prayer arrangements etc.
Yours sincerely
The new MSA UQ Executive Committee 2007-08
